Olympic Centennial Proof Set 1992-1996

Olympic Centennial Proof Set 1992-1996

This is a beautiful set of coins which I got off eBay for about 3% over spot, which was a really good deal for the full set. The set comprises of 5 x .917 gold proofs (total 2.5 AGW) and 10 x .925 silver proofs (total 10 ASW).

The case is interesting as well, with a hidden compartment to store all the certificates.

From the Olympic Review February-March 1995

“Beginning in 1992 and continuing through 1996 – the
years of the Olympic Centennial celebration – one of five
major nations has been selected to strike an annual issue
of one gold and two silver coins. The five countries – Canada,
Australia, France, Austria and Greece – were carefully
selected from a number of applicant nations.
The coins of the Olympic Centennial Coin Collection are
available individually, as annual sets of two or three coins,
or as part of the entire ongoing, five-year collection of fifteen
coins.

All coins are strictly limited as are the complete gold and
silver sets. The maximum, world-wide, mintage of 60,000
for each gold and 100,000 for each silver coin will make
this Olympic collection one of the rarest ever.”
